Local experience makes a difference

Venus Pest Company has served Bryan families and businesses since 2001. Founder Dr. Scott Lingren, a Ph.D. entomologist, developed our programs around the pest problems we see here. Bryan’s older buildings, mature landscapes, and growing neighborhoods each call for a closer look.

We also help customers in College Station and throughout Aggieland.

Drywood termites downtown

In our experience, downtown Bryan is where we’ve most consistently encountered drywood termites in buildings. That experience makes identifying the termite especially important before recommending treatment.

Fewer fire ants in older yards

In older Central Bryan neighborhoods, we often see few fire ants, sometimes almost none. We tend to find more colonies where construction or landscaping has disturbed the ground.

Mature trees and shaded yards

We see more American and smokybrown cockroaches, along with mosquitoes, in many older Bryan neighborhoods with mature trees, leaf litter, and moisture.

Creeks and drainage

Bryan’s creek corridors and drainage areas can hold moisture after rain. We consider nearby water and drainage when looking into pest activity around a property.

Homes with crawlspaces

We see subterranean termites in both Bryan and College Station. Bryan’s older homes more often have pier and beam foundations, so the inspection needs to account for conditions beneath the house.

Newer Bryan neighborhoods

New construction, recently disturbed soil, and younger landscaping can affect pest activity around newer Bryan homes. We consider the property’s construction, drainage, and surrounding development when recommending service.

Fire ants

New construction and recently disturbed soil can create opportunities for fire ants, even where established yards nearby have very few colonies.

Mosquitoes

Shaded yards, tree cover, and nearby drainage can contribute to mosquito problems. Tell us where mosquitoes are keeping you from enjoying your property.

Termites and carpenter ants

The right treatment starts with identifying the pest and inspecting the structure. Slab homes and homes with crawlspaces need different areas checked.

Rats and mice

Roof rats are the rats we typically encounter locally. Noises overhead, droppings, or gnawing can be signs that a closer inspection is needed.

Scorpions

We encounter scorpions in Bryan, though less often than in College Station. We’ll look at hiding places and possible entry points around your home.

What we look for in older Bryan homes

Older homes can have pest entry points around rooflines, plumbing, utilities, garages, and crawlspaces. Sounds in the attic, droppings in a storage room, or damage around a door may help us find the source of a problem.
For homes with pier and beam foundations, a termite inspection also needs to consider conditions beneath the house, including moisture, wood touching the ground, and debris. We recommend service based on what we find.
