Understanding Fleas
The most important part of effective flea control is understanding the flea life cycle. Adult fleas account for roughly 5% of an infestation, making it imperative to also target the larval stage of their life cycle. Effective flea treatments include inside and outside treatments that target flea adults and larvae (applied by licensed pest control company) as well as regular pet treatments (perscribed by veterinarian). Purchasing medications through the internet or over-the-counter poses many risks including mislabeled packaging and non-regulated ingredients. Always consult your veterinarian to find the product that best suits your needs.
Applications targeting adults are usually contact insecticides while applications targeting larvae are insect growth regulators that kill larvae when they molt. Pupae are immune to insecticide applications. They hatch in response to vibrations and carbon dioxide for up to 3 weeks after treatment. Vacuuming every 2 days for 3 weeks after a treatment will help catch and kill the remaining pupae. Always place vacuum bag, or empty canister, in a sealed plastic bag and dispose of it in an outdoor recepticle.
Flea Prevention Service
This service is unique among pest control companies in our area. This service must be performed in February through May, before flea season. The flea prevention treatment consists of an outside only application of insect growth regulator. We include a 1 
year re-treatment warranty, provided the customer treats their pets regularly with a veterinarian-perscribed flea treatment. The warranty includes indoor and/or outdoor flea re-treatments should an infestation occur.
Flea Control Service
This is the typical service performed when you are experiencing a flea infestation. It includes indoor and outdoor flea treatments that include a contact insecticide and an insect growth regulator. Venus Pest Company's flea control service comes with a 3 month re-treatment warranty against re-infestation by fleas, provided the customer treats their pets regularly with a veterinarian-perscribed flea treatment as described above.
